Daewoo wins VLCC deal

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. said Wednesday it has received an order to build two VLCCs for $310 million.

One 320,000-tonne VLCC will be delivered to an unidentified Greek company by August 2010 and the other 320,000-tonne VLCC by March 2012, the company said in a statement.

Daewoo Shipbuilding, the world's third-largest shipbuilder by orders, has received $5.6 billion worth of vessel orders so far this year, which accounts for 32% of this year's order target of $17.5 billion.
