Daewoo delivers 100th VLCC
Daewoo has a 20% market share
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) says it has become the world's first shipbuilder to construct and deliver over 100 VLCCs.

The shipbuilder said it recently delivered its 100th and 101st oil tankers, the Sirius Star and the Vega Star, to Saudi Arabia's Vela International Marine Ltd.

DSME said it had also built the largest number of VLCCs among a total of 506 VLCCs constructed worldwide, with a 20% share in the world VLCC construction market.

DSME's order book currently contains a backlog of 36 VLCCs.

Analysts say there is growing worldwide demand for crude oil tankers due to rocketing oil prices.
